That's awesome - and what's even better is that you kept going by yourself after your running friend moved. Changes always make me nervous since I'm a new runner... I worry about the transition periods between goals or running friends and whether I'll stick with running. What happens if I burn out after my half marathon? If the holidays are crazy and I miss a week of running, will I get back into it? So far it's always been ok - nice to hear from soemone like you who has been running for three years now!!!
