She helped her teams capture CHSL league and MHSAA district titles in 2000 and 2002, while also being named CHSL Coach of the Year her first season.

Collins played softball collegiately at Indiana Wesleyan (1995-96) and Concordia University, MI (1997-98), winning multiple awards for her skills on and off the field. She was an All-American at Concordia, a two-time conference MVP and Player of the Year for the MCC (1996) and the WHAC (1998). Collins won the NCAA NAIA National title in 1998 and holds five batting records, including most RBI in a season with 105.
