Yesterday was a long run (7.75 miles) and since I ran out of water on my last long run (little palm-held water contraption), I thought it would be a fine idea to just grab a bigger water bottle and carry it along with me. What I didn't account for was the extra 1-2 pounds that I'm not used to carrying. This resulted in an incredibly sore neck and I could barely turn my head.
Heat and rest seems to be helping - today it feels better but it's not 100%.
I suppose I should put my training program on hold until I heal. My race is 3 weeks away and hopefully this glitch won't hurt too badly. After all, my only goal is to finish.
On a brighter note, this morning my son commented, "Wow, Mom, you're tan!" I replied, "Yea. I lost 7 pounds and gained a farmers' tan."
